The circulation of the influenza virus in Castilla y León continues to rise, within the general trend registered in the last two weeks, in which the incidence was above the epidemic threshold. The data indicates that in week eight, from February 20 to 26, the incidence was placed at 86 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, something that is not usual at this time, when the virus begins to fall.
This is stated in the latest report from the Castilla y León Health Sentinel Network consulted by Ical, which shows that the curve began to rise at the beginning of the month, and continues to do so, and that a significant increase in the flu virus can be seen in the age group between 25 and 45 years. Specifically, the influenza viruses that are circulating in the majority are A(H3) and B.
In the set of acute respiratory infections, the incidence remains stable, below 1,000 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, with 937, although it is observed that, like the flu, the circulation of Covid-19 is experiencing a slight upturn , with a focus on the elderly, specifically, those aged 75 and over. In this case, the incidence is 69 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
Thirty-two percent of sentinel samples collected last week were positive for influenza, coupled with the fact that positivity among hospital samples was also on the rise. Of the total tests, ten percent were positive for COVID-19.
On the contrary, it was observed that the circulation of the rest of the respiratory viruses was reduced and no positives for the respiratory syncytial virus were found within the sentinel samples.
