The level of the river at Lanžhot rose steadily all Thursday, so the flood commission decided to deploy firefighters to build flood defenses – structures with bags filled with water.
–
The first firefighters set out after 5 p.m. “The river level was approaching the top of the dam. There were about four centimeters left to overflow it and possibly damage it. Firefighters therefore built 120 meters of mobile flood barriers, “said Jaroslav Mikoška, a spokesman for the South Moravian fire brigade.
–
In the end, six fire brigades joined the event, and employees of the company that is modifying the dam at the site also joined. They created a barrier of 500 sandbags there.

Morava near Lanžhot was on Thursday in the second stage of flood activity with a level of 499 centimeters. The day ended with a level of 537 centimeters and a flow rate of 513 cubic meters per second. Therefore, water managers began to release water through the sluice gates near Týnec in the Břeclav region to the surrounding forests around the river.
–
On Friday morning, the water level dropped a few more centimeters, but higher upstream, the flow is more than a hundred cubic meters higher. In addition, it started raining again on Friday.

In many places, however, the situation is already improving. For example, Svratka, which culminated on Thursday, fell on Friday and left the third stage of flood activity.

Water managers continue to release water from the Novomlýnské reservoirs in order to increase the free space for capturing any further increased flows. The outflow from the lakes is in the values of the second degree of flood activity, which does not pose a threat to the populated areas below them. At Břeclav, however, part of the water from the Dyje is directed to the Soutok field.
–
At the request of the Forests of the Czech Republic, the Municipal Office in Břeclav temporarily banned entry into the forest in the Soutok game reserve, with the exception of the route of the cycle path between Břeclav and Lanžhot through the Pohansko and Kazůbek localities.
–
“The reason for restricting access to the forest is the flooding of a large part of forest stands. The public can be endangered by health and lives by movement in flooded parts of forests. Among other things, there is a danger of waterlogged trees falling, “said Jana Pelcová, a spokeswoman for Břeclav City Hall. In addition, the ban is intended to reduce the stress on wildlife seeking protection from water on elevated sites.
