Obertshausen, August 30th, 2021 – The Hausen gymnastics club has completely converted the floodlight system on its sports grounds on Herrnstrasse to LED technology. The new lights are not only brighter, they are also considerably more energy-efficient. The spotlights were installed by the company LEDKon, which has its headquarters in Limburg and has been a partner of the Hessian Football Association (HFV) for two years.
The LED floodlight system is much more economical than the previous lamps and leads to a significant reduction in operating costs for the club and a large saving in CO2 for the environment. The retrofitting of the TV Hausen alone will save approx. 74 tons of CO2 within 20 years. The new system should be around 75 percent more effective and economical than its predecessor.
The new LED floodlights were installed on the five 20 meter high floodlight masts and the old spotlights dismantled within three days. Then each of these new modules had to be aligned to its exact position. Of course, this was only possible in the dark, so that the work could only be finished late at night. The floodlights are now conveniently controlled via a smartphone app, each module can be individually controlled and the strength of the lighting can be adapted to the respective situation.
As a result of the retrofitting, three of the six tennis courts at TV Hausen can now be lit in addition to the soccer field, so that the tennis department can continue playing in the evenings from now on.
Of course, the association was not able to cover the costs of the installation of around 50,000 euros on its own. The board of directors of TV Hausen would therefore like to express its thanks for the subsidies from the Federal Environment Ministry, the State of Hesse, the Offenbach district and the city of Obertshausen.
