Heavy rains and floods, which occur once a generation, have hit the federal state of Rhineland-Palatinate, where the Nürburgring is located. The area and the people have been severely affected and rescue services are constantly working to save lives. A state of emergency has been declared in the region.

Following a consultation between ETRA, local ADAC organizer Mittlerhein and the FIA, it was decided that due to the effects of heavy rain, floods and safety reasons, it would not be possible to host the FIA European Truck Racing Championship at the Nürburgring, scheduled for the weekend of July 17-18.

“We are witnessing an unprecedented development in the state of Rhineland-Palatinate, and seeing the consequences of heavy rains and floods is truly heartbreaking,” said Rolf Werner, CEO of ETRA.

“Due to serious circumstances, it will not be possible to hold a Grand Prix for trucks at the weekend. We are thinking of those affected by the floods. Firefighters and rescuers are doing incredible work in this extremely difficult situation,” he added.

The flood also thwarted plans for the Buggyra Racing team in Roudnice. Some of its members only learned about the cancellation of the races directly in the venue.

“It’s terrible what happened in Germany. We were all watching the information, so we weren’t surprised by the cancellation. Half the team was already at the Nürburgring, so they told us along the way what was going on. We can only keep our fingers crossed for the situation to best. as he can in the given situation, “says the manager of the Roudnice team Jan Kalivoda, adding that the promoter will discuss with the representatives of the circuit a possible alternative date for the event. “But it’s not on the agenda now. Everyone is dealing with more important things,” Kalivoda emphasizes.

At home, the news caught Adam Lack, who did not even go to Germany. “Unfortunately, we won’t go to the Nürburgring like last year, but we understand that loss of life and injuries are more important than our races,” Lacko responds.

It was disappointing, but we won’t do anything about it, says Adam Lacko about the unfinished season without a title
