The Fleetwood Mac singer and songwriter has passed away

British singer and songwriter Christine McVie, who was a member of the British-American rock band Fleetwood Mac, died on Wednesday at the age of 79. Citing her family’s announcement, the BBC news website reported it.

“On behalf of Christine McVie’s family, it is with heavy hearts that we announce her passing,” read a statement posted on Facebook. According to him, the singer died Wednesday morning in hospital after a short illness and was surrounded by her family.

The family also said they want “everyone to hold Christine in their hearts and remember the life of an incredible person and respected musician who was loved by all.”

Fleetwood Mac, whose name was inspired by the surnames of its founders – bassist John McVie and drummer Mick Fleetwood – was formed in 1967, but has undergone many member changes over the years. Among their most famous songs are Dreams, to go Your way a Everywhere.

Born July 12, 1943 in North West England, McVie joined the band as lead singer and keyboardist in 1970 after marrying John McVie after a brief courtship. The 1977 album Rumors is one of the best-selling albums of all time and was recorded while the couple was divorcing.

The band paid tribute to the singer in a statement released on Twitter. “There are no words to describe our sadness at the passing of Christine McVie…she was the best musician anyone could have in their band and the best friend anyone could have in their life,” the group said.
