Just three days after the home draw against FC Annecy (2-2), the VAFC move to Dijon to close out the first leg of the championship. Find out the five things to know before this game that counts for day 19 of League 2.
Return to Victory
It has now been six games since the VAFC won in a competitive match. So surely, among them, there are not only defeats but this argument is not enough to appease the ardor of the red and white fans. The victory against Dijon even becomes almost a necessity for VA, especially in light of Nicolas Rabuel’s goals. In fact, the coach wants to get as close as possible to 30 points in the middle of the championship. So if there is a win, the goal would be achieved.
Never two without three?
Dijon Football Club is also not in the best part of its season. The current 17th in the league remains on a two-game losing streak. A first against Rodez (2-1) and a second against Paris FC (2-1). But the common point between these two matches is that Dijon were playing away. The last time Dijonnais received was in a match against Laval and the hosts won five goals to nil.
Balanced matches
Whenever the two teams meet, we are entitled to the matches played. In 2022, for example, the only match between these two teams ended in a scoreless score. Last season, the two teams won against each other, one to nil for VA in Dijon and two goals to one for Dijon in Hainaut. It will therefore be necessary to expect, this Friday, a close match as usual between these two clubs.
The referee also balanced the debates
It is Gaël Angoula who will bring order to the Dijon lawn this Friday. The former professional right-back has yet to referee the sides this season. But during the previous one, we cannot say that Gaël Angoula is a real asset to any of them. Valenciennes’ record with this referee (during the 2021-2022 season) is one win, one draw and one defeat. And that of Dijon (still 21-22) is two wins for two defeats.
Play Friday the 13th
This match will take place on a special date for the most superstitious of you. Will Valenciennes be unlucky or not? All these questions won’t bother Nicolas Rabuel, who is used to worrying only about the things he can control. But there, it’s a factor that nobody really controls.
