/ world today news/ At their regular meeting on Wednesday, May 13, the members of the government will also get acquainted with a report on the cash flow of the state budget for the first quarter of 2015. At the end of March 2015, a surplus of to BGN 257.1 million (0.3% of estimated GDP).

It is formed by excesses of revenues over expenses under the national budget in the amount of BGN 156.2 million and a surplus of European funds in the amount of BGN 100.9 million. Compared to the end of March 2014, the budget position improved by 1.4% of GDP. Higher revenues continue to be the main factor for the improvement of the budget balance, while expenditures develop in line with the fiscal framework. The rate of revenue growth significantly outpaced the rate of expenditure growth, which also led to the reported improvement in the budget balance.

The size of the fiscal reserve at the end of the first quarter was BGN 11.1 billion.

The government is expected to decide that in the new school year, the planned intake will be increased in priority areas for society, such as pedagogical and information sciences, mechanical engineering, architecture, biotechnology, plant protection.

According to the decision, public higher education institutions will be able to admit 58,386 new students, and private ones – 15,812. The expected intake of doctoral students is 2,143 for public higher education institutions, 110 – for private ones, and 313 – for scientific organizations.

The confirmed number of students and doctoral students accepted for training is based on the principle of wide access to higher education – reaching the level of 36% of graduates aged between 30 and 34 in 2020. This will also contribute to the creation of more -wide learning opportunities in higher schools within the concept of lifelong learning.

The agenda of the government meeting includes proposals for awarding five prominent cultural figures with the Order of St. St. Cyril and Methodius. The proposals are for the sculptor Georgi Chapkenov, the circus virtuoso Alexander Balkanski, the film critic Nedelcho Milev, the creator of the modern community center management Nikolay Doinov and the cameraman Ivan Tsonev, who turned chronicling into an art of high aesthetic value.
