The first Windows 11 preview is out. Meanwhile, PC Health Check has disappeared

During the premiere Windows 11 it was promised that the first preview of the new operating system would be released next week. And just today, build 22000.51 was released, which can be downloaded by members of the Windows Insider program – specifically those who are logged in to the Dev Channel. Anyone who downloads the Windows 11 preview can try out the redesigned user interface and some upcoming features, such as widgets or the redesigned Microsoft Store, in advance. On the contrary, other expected news, including support for applications from Android, are not yet part of the preview.-

You must also take into account that this build may not be stable and contains errors (some of which were confirmed by Microsoft itself). Therefore, only users who know what awaits them should participate in Windows 11 testing. And it’s definitely not a good idea to install this version on your mainframe, which you use every day. The main goal of this testing is to get feedback from users and catch all the flies before the new OS gets a stable release. Recall that Windows 11 preview can also be downloaded to some computers that do not meet all hardware requirements.

If you are not yet logged in to test, just open Windows Update in Settings and select Windows Insider in the left pane. Here are a few steps to sign up for the program (don’t forget to select Dev Channel). You can then check for updates in Windows Update and download the aforementioned build 22000.51. After installation, the following news awaits you, among others:

  • new Settings application,
  • redesigned Start menu and taskbar,
  • new action center and floating volume settings,
  • Widget support (MSN news and weather forecast)
other color motifs in addition to light and dark,
  • new wallpapers and sound effects,
  • grouping on the taskbar and dragging to windows,
  • new control gestures for touch screens,
  • redesigned Microsoft Store (no Android application support yet).

Several bugs that appear in this build have also been confirmed. Users do not see the taskbar on multiple monitors. When you upgrade a device with multiple user accounts, the Settings application may not load. In some cases, disabling applications from the Start menu may not work, but restarting your computer should resolve this issue.

PC Health Check takes a break

Microsoft also decided to download its tool for a while PC Health Check (Personal Computer Health Check), which was used primarily to check the compatibility of your computer with Windows 11. However, users rightly complained that the tool did not provide any details. Although the latest version was supposed to partially address this issue, a number of incompatibilities still did not appear on many reports. Therefore, Microsoft intends to further improve PC Health Check and in the meantime has removed the program from its website. Third party alternatives such as WhyNotWin11, but even those cannot guarantee the accuracy of the information due to unclear and ever-changing conditions.-
