The first weekend of September leaves more than 300 hectares burned | Radio Ourense

The first weekend of September leaves a balance of more than three hundred hectares burned in the province of Ourense. In addition to the fire in A Mezquita, there have been fronts in Rios, with 30 hectares, Chandrexa de Queixa, whose fourth fire has burned forty hectares or Vilariño de Conso, where they have registered fronts in the parishes of Castiñeira and San Cristovo.

These last two fires especially affected Red Natura spaces, which leads the councilors to see an intentional hand at its source. This has been confirmed by both the mayor of Chandrexa de Queixa, Francisco Rodríguez, and the councilor of Vilariño de conso, Melisa Macía.

Older, the municipalities have encountered a new problem this summer: having to confine and quarantine their brigades after registering positive cases of coronavirus among its members. So far, positives have been detected in Leiro, San Xoán de Río o Cualedro. The mayor of the latter town, Luciano Rivero, trusted that the Xunta’s staff could alleviate this lack of troops.

The Civil Guard has confirmed this morning the arrest of a neighbor of Paradela 22 years as allegedly responsible for a fire last August that calcined more than half a hectare.
