SuaraJatim.id – One of the largest Muslim countries in the world, Pakistan, has schools – which in Arabic is called madrasah–special transgender who entered the group LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Biseksual, Tansgender).

This madrasa in Pakistan is said to be an important milestone for the country’s LGBTQ community. Starting from the principal, teachers and an average of 25 students are one shemale.

The principal of the school is named Rani Khan. He is also a transvestite. This school stands on the outskirts of Pakistan’s capital, Islamabad. This madrasa is the first school for transgender people in Pakistan, which is predominantly Muslim.

“In Pakistan, transgender people are ostracized. Although there is no official prohibition on studying at madrassas or other Islamic religious schools, or praying in mosques, they are not accepted,” Rani said, quoted from hops.id, Suara.com media network, Wednesday (24/03/2021).

Hops.id launched it from Aljazeera. It was explained that the age of transgender students at the school was relatively young, around 16-19 years. Rani explained, most of the students were victims of bullying who were neglected because they lived as homeless people.

Furthermore, Rani said she often sees transgender teenagers who are ostracized and survive. “Nobody wants to accept them so many have chosen the wrong path,” he said.

Many of them try to survive by working in the world of prostitution, or begging and dancing. As a transvestite, Rani Khan shared how difficult it is to live in Pakistan.

“Most families don’t accept transgender people. They kick transgender people out of the house,” said Khan.

“They had parties, they started dancing and begging, and doing other wrong things.”

Khan was treated cruelly

His efforts to build a transgender madrasa were carried out because he was often bullied and had no chance to develop. Khan was not even recognized by his own family at the age of 13 and was forced to beg.

He then joined a transgender group at the age of 17 to dance at weddings or other events to make a living.

Even so, Khan was inspired to re-examine his religion after dreaming about a deceased fellow who asked him to do something for their community.

Khan had learned to read the Qur’an at home, and studied Islam in a number of madrasas, before opening his new two -room madrasah last October.

“I cover all the costs of the madrasa out of my own pocket. This is the money I earned when I used to dance and beg,” Khan said.

“I used the money to run this madrasa. I used up all my savings. We have not received any financial support from the government so far,” explained Khan.

Although Khan did not say how much it would cost to operate the madrasa, to date, about eight of its students live at the madrasa on a permanent basis, while others come simply to study for a few hours a day.

Khan admits he teaches his students how to sew and embroider, hoping to eventually raise money by selling clothes.

Today Khan still frequently takes to the streets in an attempt to find new students among the beggars.
