In the first practice we saw a number of junior riders. But the racing drivers finished in the top four. Hamilton was fastest.
We saw eight changes in the first workout. The teams thus complied at the last minute with the rule according to which they must field junior riders in two training sessions during the season. Both drivers have to borrow their cars, so this time Max Verstappen watched the first practice sessions from the pits.

Patricio O’Ward had technical problems at the start of practice and had to pit. But he was back on track after a few minutes.
A hot moment was experienced by Logan Sargeant, who spun at the end of the finish line and slid all the way to the barrier. He pitted with damaged tires and continued on after a while. Sargeant covered more than 100km in practice, so he could score another point for his super licence.
The best of the juniors was Lawson, who took fifth place.
Lewis Hamilton set the fastest time ahead of his teammate George Russell and Charles Leclerc.
