Books – Mustafa Eid:
A source from the Egyptian Tax Authority told Masrawy that there are no exceptions for any taxpayer who is required to join the electronic billing system, whether for companies or for the professions such as lawyers or others.
The source added that the rest of the lenders of companies and the professions, such as doctors, engineers, lawyers and others, are obliged to join the electronic bill system no later than mid-December.
This comes after some lawyers objected to the obligation to join the e-invoicing system, in light of the approaching date of the obligation to join.
The source of the authority stated that in the event that none of the subjects obliged to adhere to the electronic bill, the sanctions provided for by law will be applied and those who are not obliged will not be able to deal with the public administration without joining the system, starting from next April.
It clarifies that lenders whose dealings are limited to the final consumer, including lawyers, are obliged to register in the e-invoicing system, but are not obliged to issue e-invoices until the e-receipt is applied to them.
He specifies that in this case the financiers submit to their tax offices a request to defer the issuance of invoices on the electronic invoicing system until the issuance of the decisions which oblige them to use the electronic receipt system.
The source confirmed that the authority has signed a protocol of cooperation with the Bar Association regarding adherence to the electronic system and that there is a standing committee of the authority in the union to resolve any issues facing lawyers in the registration.
