Serie A has returned to the Stadio Ennio Tardini after a three-year absence. Parma Calcio 1913 looked set to make an early return, but in two seasons they have failed to capitalise on their chances to climb into the Italian league. The two-time UEFA Cup winner and UEFA Super Cup winner in the 1990s are looking to establish themselves in Italy’s top 20 this time around.
The newcomer’s first opponent this season was ACF Fiorentina, who had the best results in the cups in previous seasons. Two years ago, Viola was in the final of the Italian Cup, and in two seasons in a row in the finals of the European Conference League. Another thing is that they did not win any of them, and in this year’s match against Olympiakos they played badly.
Parma entered the match with a strong determination to win all three points in their opening game. The hosts were 1-0 up from the 22nd minute thanks to a Dennis Man strike. Fiorentina did not allow the newcomer to win, and their long pursuit ended successfully in the 75th minute, when Cristiano Biraghi scored to equalise 1-1.

Parma was without the injured Adrian Benedyczak, and two teenagers, Mateusz Kowalski and Daniel Mikołajewski, were on the bench.
In the second match of the season, Parma will host AC Milan. Fiorentina will host Venezia FC.
