This weekend a new Bicicross track was established in the command, starting the Chillán 2024 Bicicross Cup Chile.
Saturday and Sunday, the athletes appeared on the new track, which is considered one of the largest and most recent in South America, where nine students from DAEM schools and high schools ‘ competition.
The mayor of Chillán, Camilo Benavente Jiménez, started this competition, saying that “this route is a dream come true for more than 100 athletes of this discipline in the command and the region. The boys and girls who practice this sport today can say that they are doing so on a high level track and one of the newest in our country.”
Five municipal schools were present with their student athletes, standing out greatly in the results obtained: From the Palestine School, Nicolás Manríquez (Palestine School) took the podium, getting first place in the two competitions, in the category of Male Beginners 9-10 years old. . While Rosario Acuña got the first place in her category Girls 5-7 years in both competitions.
Student Jean Paul Cerrada from Arturo Mutizabal School took part, reaching second place in both competitions in the Boys Novice Division 13-14 Years. Also competing was Jesús Guacara, who took eighth and sixth place in the championships in his Male Novices 11-12 years category.
At the same time, for the School of the Republic of Mexico Martín Castro won the first and third place in the Boys 14 category in both competitions while the student Agustín Burgos got the third and fourth place in the Boys category Novice Boys 13-14 years in both competitions.
Jason Guzmán, from Arturo Merino Benítez School, reached sixth and fifth place in the Novice Boys 13-14 years category in both competitions. Antonia Troncoso, tenth and third place in both competitions, in the Girls 14 year category got her.
While from Liceo Marta Colvin, Johan González took sixth and seventh place in the Boys 14 category on each date.
The students of town schools and secondary schools of Chillán obtained excellent results in Bicicross, thanks to the workshops provided by the Directorate of Education of the Town and their participation in the Chillán Bicicross Club.
The director of the DAEM, Marco Aguilera Marchant, highlighted the special achievement of the students, saying “It is a great achievement for the boys and girls who belong to our education system, because with a lot of effort they managed to improve and forward. development in this subject, standing out in this great competition held on the new track.”
