In Korea, a case of a mutant virus, which is known to have stronger transmission power than the existing novel coronavirus, has been confirmed for the first time.
The Korea Central Defense Agency said that after the 1st of this month, it analyzed the genomes of 27 confirmed cases in Korea that were positive for coronavirus. As a result, 5 cases of mutant virus were confirmed.
Four out of five cases were infected with the UK mutant virus and one case with the South African mutant virus. In particular, the four confirmed cases of the virus from the UK were infected by relatives who visited the homes of self-contained entrants at once, and this is the first case of a mutant virus in Korea, according to Korean media.
As of today (3rd), 39 confirmed cases were confirmed to be infected with the mutant virus in Korea.
According to the Korean quarantine authorities, a total of 362 new confirmed cases today (as of 6 PM) were counted.
Among these, mutant viruses with genetic characteristics that make vaccines less effective have been found in the UK.
According to the British’BBC’ broadcast, the British Public Health Administration (PHE) released a report yesterday (2nd) that a new mutation was found in 11 samples of mutant viruses from the UK.
According to the report, the new mutant virus has some similar genetic characteristics to the mutation that occurred in South Africa, but it is assumed that the mutant virus from the UK evolved and produced itself.
This new mutant virus is highly infectious and is known to incapacitate some corona antibodies.
