With the handover of the new cars, a major change in the police fleet continues.
This week, the Police of the Czech Republic put into operation the first 200 new Škoda Scala vehicles in a police design. So far, the state has purchased a total of 557 of them, and the framework agreement will enable the purchase of a total of 1,400 vehicles. It is part of a large exchange of police cars, which began in 2019.
The Ministry of the Interior stated in a press release that 60% of police cars have been restored in the last two years. The fleet of personal police specials in police colors will be practically completely changed in the next three years (95%). Scala cars already run as police emergency vehicles in the United Kingdom.
„In the last two years, we have managed to significantly restore the neglected police fleet and the police no longer have to drive in used cars. I wish the police that the new Škoda Scala cars serve them well, “ said the Minister of the Interior Jan Hamáček.
Due to higher durability, the Scalas have a modified rear axle, a more robust engine and gearbox cover, different springs and shock absorbers have been used compared to series production, and the cars also have an increased battery capacity for operating warning lights without the engine running. The special equipment also includes a mounting kit for a mobile terminal for a radio station with an installed sound and radio warning device or a removable grille separating the space for the crew from the luggage compartment.
The police scales are equipped with a 1.5 TSI petrol engine with an output of 110 kW in combination with a seven-speed DSG automatic transmission. They will be used for the normal performance of service in the basic police departments. The price of one vehicle is 695 thousand. CZK and the price includes free service for seven years.
Since 2019, the police have so far taken over 1,799 passenger cars with police equipment in a special color design.
