The first real images of the flagship video card NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080

The first image of the NVIDIA RTX 3080 video card is published. The company plans to release these cards by the end of 2020, so you should see them at the Computex virtual conference at the end of this year or around the same time. Interestingly, the leaked image was made on the same assembly line that was present on the first leak for the RTX 2000 line.

The NVIDIA RTX 3080 graphics card features a bold new design with bi-directional fans, an irregular printed circuit board and a curved heatsink.

According to rumors, the RTX 3080 will ship with the GA104 GPU and replace the existing RTX 2080 48 SM (3072 CUDA cores). This is slightly larger than the RTX 2080 at 46 SM. Combined with higher throughput and improved RTX cores, you expect a significant increase in performance if this turns out to be true – in fact, it is estimated that the performance will be slightly lower than the current generation RTX 2080 Ti flagship. The RTX 3080 GPU will be connected with 8 GB / 16 GB vRAM and 256-bit bus width.

Despite the fact that there is no price information yet, we have a feeling that this time NVIDIA will use a much more lenient approach to MSRP (at least for custom parts of AIB) compared to Turing, given the fact that the first was very slowly gaining momentum because of its large price tag. The company is also switching to the 7-nm process technology of the Ampere series, so it will have access to significant cost savings – some of which it must transfer to consumers.
