Who is eligible?

As a result of the MEPRD support program, Latvian residents or individuals will have the opportunity to receive a discount of 4,500 euros for the purchase of a new electric car, but a discount of 2,250 euros will be granted to those who buy used electric cars or new industrially plug-in hybrid cars.

The support will be provided until 31 December 2023 or until the EUR 10 million of support is realized. Residents will receive discounts through merchants who have entered into an agreement with SIA “Vides investīcijas fonds”.

What are the operating conditions?

When purchasing a car, you have to drive 52,000 km in five years, as well as ensure permanent registration of the vehicle in Latvia and insurance. It is also prohibited to sell, exchange, invest in a capital company and transfer it free of charge for five years.

What are the restrictions?

The purchased vehicle may not be used for economic activities for at least five years after the purchase of the car or until it has covered 52,000 km. Failure to do so may result in repayment of all aid received. Also, people with a registered tax debt cannot apply for support if the applicant is registered as a debtor or has been sanctioned.
