The first post-flood cars from the west are now available for purchase. The “pearl” is an Audi RS6 from 2021 for half the price [ZDJĘCIA]

Unfortunately, it was exactly what automotive experts feared. Tow trucks filled with flood cars from Germany, Belgium and Luxembourg began to storm the borders of Poland and the Czech Republic. Many of these vehicles also found their way to auction portals.

The recent floods that hit western Germany and several neighboring countries destroyed almost everything in their path. Of course, including hundreds of thousands of cars. Yesterday we wrote about a similar situation in China, which was also strongly affected by the element. Unfortunately, everything indicates that the situation in Europe is likely to be only slightly better.

A tempting offer and then cry

At the beginning, however, we would like to point out that we absolutely do not show you a car that you should consider buying. On the contrary, we would just like to warn you that what at first glance seems to be the perfect opportunity to own your dream car is really nothing more than getting into an endless spiral of trouble.

An advertisement from Luxembourg has just appeared on the web, specifically from the town of Reckange-sur-Mess. There, on June 3 to be precise, 60 mm of precipitation fell in just one hour per square meter. To best illustrate the scale of this phenomenon, it is enough to imagine that in 60 minutes per square meter fell … 60 liters of water – 1 mm of precipitation is equal to 1 liter of water. A lot, right?

Returning, however, to the said advertisement. Its subject is the beautiful Audi RS6 from 2021. If we understood the seller’s words correctly, the car was “only” partially flooded, with no water getting inside. This is probably why this RS6 looks almost intact both from the outside and the inside.

fot: damaged cars

Price? 103,939 euros, which is more than half the price of the showroom. Considering the fact that the car was produced this year, and the meter shows a trace mileage of 4,000 km, it is possible to wrongly assume that it is a “life opportunity”. Why, however, the wrong assumption? Well, the car just… doesn’t run.

The balance of profits and losses

Seller, company Damaged cars from nearby Belgium, which specializes in salvage, says the engine is not working and does not know exactly what is causing it. Mechanics believe that the problem lies with the electronics. However, they do not rule out that the unit was completely flooded.

That is why we present the mentioned Audi RS6 as a curiosity and proof that the cars affected by this year’s flood or are already running, or they are a source of seemingly attractive offers in the current market situation, which may not pay off quickly.

So if you plan to bring a car from places like Germany, Belgium or Luxembourg in the near future, better think twice. When deciding on a flood car, we can be almost sure that the profit balance will be much smaller than the potential losses. It is worth bearing this in mind. The drowned (in this case, almost literally) money will not be returned to us after all.
