NEW YORK – Sandra Lindsay, a nurse in Queens and the first American to receive the COVID-19 vaccine from Pfizer, says she has not experienced any side effects from the first dose.
Lindsay, a critical care nurse at Long Island Jewish Medical Center, spoke with CNN on Friday about her experience receiving the vaccine.
“I have not felt any side effects, today I have not even felt pain in my arm, nor any inflammatory response that experts have said I could experience,” Sandra Lindsay told CNN’s Don Lemon on Friday.
“I did not experience any weakness, no pain. I feel great. I went back to work the next day, ”he added.
In the spring, Lindsay treated hundreds of COVID-19 patients as her hospital tripled the size of the Intensive Care Center, but was never contracted for COVID-19 cases.
The Food and Drug Administration says that Moderna’s vaccine, who obtained the emergency use authorization on Friday night, it could cause fatigue, headaches and muscle aches.
Many doctors are advising the public to prepare for some stronger-than-usual side effects with COVID-19 vaccines than, say, a typical flu shot, and possibly take a day or two off to recover.
