The first new-generation Chevrolet Corvette Z06 auctioned for 78 million

It is no exception that iconic American cars are starting to be sold not only in car showrooms, but also at auctions. The first piece made for customers is sometimes available at auction, the proceeds of which will help the charity. This was the case with the first production Corvette in the middle two years ago, the C8 generation – and also the first piece of its Z06 version a few days ago.

The Corvette C8 Z06 was auctioned off at the Barrett-Jackson auction house, and the final price came within the reach of the historically most expensive corvette sold at auction – it was $ 3.6 million, or 78.6 million crowns. The most expensive, just for completeness, was sold in 2014 and it was a Corvette L88 Coupe from 1967 and cost $ 3.85 million (at the then exchange rate of 77.8 million crowns).

The winner of the auction was Rick Hendrick – in both cases, both two years ago with the first C8 at all – then for three million dollars, ie the then exchange rate of 67.9 million crowns – and now with the first C8 Z06. Hendrick is an American racer and car dealer.

This particular Z06 with a VIN ending in 001 is designated as model year 2023 and features the 70th Anniversary Edition package, which commemorates the 70th anniversary of the production of the Chevrolet Corvette. That falls in 2023; the first corvette began production in June 1953.

Proceeds from the first C8 Z06 auction will be donated to Operation Homefront, which has been helping war veterans and their families since 2002.

The eight-cylinder LT6 inside the Corvette C8 Z06 has a flat crankshaft and 5.5 liters in volume. It gives 679 horsepower and 624 Nm, which makes it the most powerful atmospheric eight-cylinder in series production in history.
