The first meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Council is held in Vilnius

The first meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Council is being held within the NATO Vilnius summit.

SIA reports that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy and leaders of the member countries are participating in the meeting chaired by the Secretary General of the Alliance, Jens Stoltenberg.

At the opening of the meeting, Stoltenberg noted that the alliance has once again confirmed that Ukraine will become a member, and a decision was made to bring Ukraine closer to NATO.

“Today we will meet as equals, and I look forward to our meeting as allies,” Stoltenberg said.

Later, media representatives were removed from the meeting hall and the discussions continued behind closed doors.
