Stone rock, hardcore punk and psychedelic rock – on Saturday the big names of the international stone rock scene took to the stage at the first “Praise The Fuzz Festival” in the Lohrer Stadthalle with the bands Truckfighters, Nebula, Yawning Man and Siena Root.
Over 350 tickets have already been sold in advance to fans across Germany.
The bands are “the most important thing in rock,” said Sebastian Metzger from Würzburg and Peter Wanninger from Oberalteich near Bogen. “The organizer can do something,” said a group of around 20 people from Würzburg.
Their average age was around the late 20s to mid-30s. They quickly named the festival the “Spessart Festival”. Perhaps an allusion to the “desert festival,” which started at the same time in Antwerp and attracted a large part of the fan scene.
The “Praise The Fuzz Festival” did very well at its premiere on Saturday. In addition, it was launched at relatively short notice with only two and a half months’ notice, explained Thomas Funck, head of the city’s cultural office and city hall manager.
The event came about through his contact with the organizer “sound of liberation”. The four head bands of the festival, Truckfighters, Nebula, Yawning Man and Siena Root are currently on tour. There was a short-term opportunity to add another performance on Saturday. The “Praise The Fuzz Festival” was created in cooperation with the Stadthalle.
The average age of the fan scene is diverse. From the early 20s to the mid 60s, everyone is included. Walter and Jörg are over 60. They were looking forward to “Siena Root” for “reducing aggression.”
They found the bands “Einseinseins” from Berlin, “Däächt” from Regensburg and “Kuder” from Lohr, who kicked off the event and filled the afternoon from 4 p.m., “quite okay as the opening act.”
Hardcore punk and stone rock are loud and aggressive music styles. The audience behaved in complete contrast: maximally relaxed and friendly.
“We are like a family,” said Katharina Stenger from Geiselwind. “You meet again and again and look at each other,” is how she described the feeling of the scene. The audience traveled from all over Germany. Including the blogger Volker Fröhmer from Wuppertal. In his blog “rockblogbluespot” he writes about the scene’s relevant concerts.
The music that was played in the hall from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. was stone rock at its finest. Most fans traveled to Lohr by train. The performance times of the individual bands were also timed accordingly. An idea that was well received.
