‘We are currently still with temperatures around twenty degrees and some clouds,’ says Dehenauw. ‘Which is actually a normal weather picture for this time of year. But we see that it is getting sunnier and that we already have beautiful days with 24 degrees on Saturday and Sunday. From Monday onwards we will take it a step further and on Tuesday I can see it reaching 30 degrees locally, making the first late summer a fact. ‘
It is not exceptional. ‘We often reach those temperatures in September. Now we owe that to a high-pressure area over the Atlantic Ocean that will connect to a core developing over Italy. We will be on the western flank of that, so that we will take advantage of southern air currents that bring high temperatures. In the second half of the week, that high-pressure area will shift towards Scandinavia, but it will remain close enough to continue to provide good weather after Tuesday. There may always be a chance of a thunderstorm at the end of the day, but it is still too early to predict that in concrete terms. ‘
