Massive car brands these days almost always use not genuine leather, but leatherette, and they call it in a fashionable way – eco-leather. Against this background, the innovation from AvtoVAZ looks unexpected. The manufacturer notes that high-quality Russian-made leather is used in the upholstery.
The idea is to add a premium feel to the Niva? Not only. For an SUV, a fabric interior is certainly not the most practical solution, while leather does not absorb dirt and is easier to clean.
The material used is reported to be chrome tanned. Due to this treatment, the leather is durable and elastic, it is resistant to abrasion, the effects of fuels and lubricants and detergents. The upholstery is also hygienic and hypoallergenic. The thickness of the skin is 1.1−1.4 mm.
In addition to the seats, the steering wheel and center armrest are covered in genuine leather. Moreover, an original design has been designed for the seats: individual elements are made of perforated leather, and Niva Travel is embossed on the backs of the front seats.
The price of an SUV with a leather interior is from 1,489,500 rubles. For this money you get the Comfort MMC package (with optional multimedia). That is, the additional payment in comparison with a fabric interior is 265,900 rubles.
Leather upholstery is also available for the Comfort Off-road MMC and Luxe versions. They will cost 1,527,500 and 1,548,500 rubles respectively.
