The first space helicopters won’t fly around Mars yet. The drone was scheduled to make its first short flight over the Red Planet at night from Sunday to Monday (Dutch time), but has been postponed. Technical problems arise during training. At the earliest, efforts to take off will only be carried out next Wednesday.
Its maiden flight is scheduled for 4.54 hours NST on Monday. The Mars helicopter innovation is planned to reach a height of several meters in three seconds. It would remain there for thirty seconds, before landing on the same spot in a controlled manner.
That first flight was a test. If successful, Mars helicopters can fly about five times, each time a few hundred meters away. It will likely last about a month on Mars.
What happened?
In preparation for the first flight, helicopter blades were turned on Friday. Something’s wrong with the code on the plane. The computer in flight control prowess warns that something is wrong. This is being investigated. The helicopter is safe and sound and has sent all of its data back to Earth, NASA said on Saturday.
The helicopter was launched in July as baggage on the tenacious Mars trolley. They landed together on Mars in mid-February. About a week ago, creativity came to the fore. It is about 1 meter stunt and weighs about 2kg.
