After initially having no plans for additional content for Final Fantasy XVI, Square Enix turned the tables earlier this year. The developer promised two expansions, and the first of these was abruptly launched on the night of Friday.
Echoes of the Fallen is the name of the first expansion. This one promises brand new stories, battles, weapons, accessories and even an increased level cap. In Echoes of the Fallen, Clive and company travel to Sagespire, an abandoned tower where things are apparently not quite as they should be.
Sometime in the spring, The Rising Tide will be on its way. Here, too, new challenges await players to puzzle over, and Square entices, among other things, with a battle between Clive and the Eikon beast Leviathan.

As the developer points out, you have to open your wallet to secure the extensions. You can buy them separately, or alternatively go to purchase the season pass to pick up both.
Final Fantasy XVI was a mixed experience for our reviewer. The story and the combat system drew the experience up, reported Øystein Furevik, but the main character Clive was both too boring and too chatty.
