Today, February 13, Utena District Municipality and the Central Project Management Agency signed the contract for the project “Development of Social Housing in Utena City”, according to which nearly 700,000. euros of European Union (EU) funds.

According to the announcement of the Ministry of the Interior, as much as 60 percent of the funds planned in the Regional Development Program will be invested by the regional development councils in the social field – the improvement of education, health, social and other public services for residents.

Autonomous regional development councils were established in 2021, when a new legal framework for regional policy was formed. in 2022 the Regional Development Program was approved, according to which it is intended to invest more than 1.6 billion in the regions. euros or about 27 percent. of all EU structural funds received by Lithuania. in 2023 the regional development councils identified the fundamental problems of each region, their causes and solutions, which they consolidated in the regional development plans.

Regional development councils have already planned 58 progress measures (specific projects) for 597.8 million. euros. This is 37 percent.
