Amazon Studios yesterday completed the filming of the first season of the anticipated narrative television series The Lord of the Rings (the final official name of the series has not yet been revealed). To celebrate, they announced the premiere date of the first episode (episodes will be published weekly), which will take place as part of an Amazon subscription Prime Video September 2, 2022 and at the same time published the first official shot, which allegedly comes from the first part of the first season:
It is worth noting that this will not be the story you know from the cinema. The series is set in the period of the Second Age, ie thousands of years before the events of the Hobbit story. The first series of the series alone has a budget of an incredible $ 465 million (10 billion crowns) and the premiere will take place in 240 countries at the same time, including the Czech Republic, where it should have Czech subtitles (but it may happen that we will see Czech dubbing).
This is not going to be the story you know from the cinema.
Amazon canceled the upcoming MMORPG, planned at the same time as the series, in April. The reason was a disagreement with the Chinese company Tencent, which bought the development studio Leyou. However, if the series is extremely successful, it is not difficult to imagine that Amazon will implement the game in some way, albeit later, with other creators and perhaps also using technology and experience gained through the development of The New World.
