The most significant visual change is the bow, which no longer even pretends to be a mask. The bumper is cleanly shaped. The charging socket in the front bumper remains, and the headlights and taillights are also new. Nine shades of body paint are completely new.

Inside you will now find ambient lighting, the whole interior can be configured in two colors. Kona Electric is equipped for the first time with a 10.25 “digital instrument panel, while the optional 10.25” display of the multimedia and navigation system has been taken over from a previous upgrade.

In terms of facelift technology, it now offers, for example, blind spot monitoring, reversing traffic alerts, a safe exit assistant or more advanced connectivity options, including a mobile application.

The drive remains unchanged. There are two variants to choose from. The extended range version is equipped with batteries with a capacity of 64 kWh and an electric motor with a maximum output of 150 kW (204 hp), which allows acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h in 7.9 seconds. The basic version has a battery capacity of 39.2 kWh and provides the highest output of 100 kW (136 hp). From zero to 100 km / h it manages in 9.9 seconds.

Since the modernization for model year 2020, improved tires have been fitted, with which the range of the version with 64kWh batteries has been extended to 484 kilometers (WLTP) on a single charge. The model with a battery capacity of 39.2 kWh offers a range of up to 305 kilometers (WLTP).

The exact date of arrival on the market and the new price list are not yet stated by the Korean carmaker.
