The first edition of the Urbano Rome Festival in Piazza Vittorio Emanuele

The first edition of the Urbano Rome Festival will be held on Sunday 27 October in Piazza Vittorio Emanuele, the event which will have street art and sport as its protagonists, in this case basketball, as a vehicle for socialization and psychophysical well-being.

“We want to bring the square back to the center of urban life, as a place for meeting and socializing, as well as for cultural learning and sporting activities. Our commitment has always been to overcome the boundary between the physical world and the digital world by creating connections and we are planning to participate in socially useful projects, with a series of initiatives in favor of local communities. One of the initiatives we care most about, which we are working on together with local institutions, concerns the redevelopment of the area starting from the basketball courts: the result that will arise from this synergy will be a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment which will benefit not only basketball fans but the whole community” – is the message Dario Ferretti, CEO of Pick-Roll, a Roman startup that connects basketball fans from all over Italy.

The initiative, born from the will of Ferretti and Andrea Fassi, of the historic Fassi ice cream shop, will see the setting up of a 3v3 basketball court in the square where activities and tournaments, including mini-basketball, will take place. Furthermore, there will be an opportunity for fans to meet the champions of Virtus Roma 1960 and StellaEBK, two important basketball clubs in the capital. Basketball will also be joined by free skate sessions organized by BNKR Skatepark.

As far as the street art area is concerned, there is space for Baruz, a Roman artist who creates works with the technique he invented of “Dribbling on Canvas”, which consists of immersing basketballs of different sizes (but also basketball nets and other objects related to basketball) in various colors, to then dribble them on tables or canvases.

Participation in the event, sponsored by the sports department, is free, but to play the 3v3 tournaments the teams will have to register via the Pick-Roll APP.
