“The first day of filming was quite panicky” –

Singer Behm aka Rita Behm, 29, will play her first acting role in a film to be released next year Let me love more. It is a film based on the novel of the same name by author Juha Itkonen, directed by Oskari Sipola.

However, the beloved singer is not changing fields.

– I wouldn’t say that I’m changing my field, but I wanted to expand my own territory, Behm answered Iltalehte on the set of the film.

First time acting

No acting roles can be found on Behm’s resume. This is his first official acting role ever. Although there are no official merites yet, Behm has acted a lot during his life.

– My childhood has been very focused on plays, shall we say so. I have shot movies with my sister with a paperback camera. I always had the main roles in them, says Behm with a twinkle in his eye.

The hobby that started in childhood continued later in middle school by making my own films and in high school as a student of expression. Behmi, one of Finland’s most famous singers, was even supposed to focus her career on acting.

– When I was younger, I was going more in this direction than that music. It came a bit out of the blue, Behm stated.

Got the main role

Behm’s character, Suvi, is a singer who came from a small town and meets Anti (Pyry Kähkönen) at a house party. The two fall in love and start a band. A couple’s relationship is put to the test when the couple goes to Helsinki to test their wings. The trials are not limited to Finland, because Suvi ends up creating an international career for the world.

The film’s production company approached Behm with an invitation to audition in the spring. Behm went with many other applicants to compete for the roles.

A week later, I got a phone call with an offer.

– Straight to such a leading role! I thought that a small role would have been nice at first, but then something like this happened. I have to accept it, Behm sighed.

Entering the world of acting has gone well. Behm sees a lot of the same in an actor’s work as in his own work as a singer.

– The first day of shooting was quite panicky, but it went from there. It’s been a really good feeling.

– I have thought about the fact that when I interpret songs, I interpret the character of the song in a way and put myself in his feelings. It’s all about interpretation. I’ve been thinking that I’ll do the same with the movie character here. Now, only one’s own voice is not enough for interpretation, Behm laughs.

Let me love more is a music-themed film and Behm’s singing will be heard in it. Behm reveals that the songs will deviate a lot from his own production. They are sung in English.

– This is really far from what I am and what I do, says Behm.

Iltalehti visited the film’s shooting location at the beginning of October, when the shooting schedule had already passed halfway. Behm said that the busy schedule was already known before, but the long shooting days still managed to completely surprise the singer star.

– I don’t know if I’ve ever had a project like this that keeps me away from home so much. I’ve only been there to sleep. I’m a crazy person in the way that I thought I could do a lead role, plan a tour and make a third record at the same time. Yes, I will say that if I’m not burnt out in November, it’s a miracle. I hope not, says Behm.

– This has been by far the busiest autumn I’ve ever had, he continued.
