The legendary Czech make-up artist Olga Knoblochová also appeared among the guests of Nova TV’s “Weekend Breakfast”. A beautiful aristocratic-looking lady with pearls, despite her advanced age, she still looks the same and spreads good humor around her. In the cosmetic industry, she is called “Lady Dermacol” and is also considered the first Czech make-up artist.
Her fascinating career is, among other things, proof of the fact that even in the gray era of socialism in our country first-class beauty salons operated and high-quality cosmetics were produced. In 1958, the famous Prague “Institute of Medical Cosmetics” was established in the Adria Palace in Prague, which included hairdressing, manicure and pedicure, as well as plastic surgery. The institution certainly had no shortage of clients, including various celebrities of the time.
And not only that, even then Olga Knoblochová, together with her colleagues, organized the “makeovers” that are so popular today, and not only for the chosen ones of the “best” society. They also visited large factories or cooperatives, selected some women and got busy with them: they dressed them, did their hair and made them up. At the same time, they presented them in the widely read magazines “Vlasta” or “Květy”.
The birth of a legend
However, the Institute of Cosmetic Medicine was not concerned only with the beautification of its clients, but above all with the solution of some serious dermatological problems: all the more so since at the time there were no lasers or other miraculous procedures and devices. It was Olga Knoblochová who tried to help those patients who had various cosmetic defects. She therefore turned to the experts of the “Barrando Film Studio”, where there was a laboratory for the development of film make-up, to help her develop the covering make-up.
And the result was the creation of the now legendary “Dermacol” make-up, which is produced in ten opaque colors. He was able to perfectly mask skin diseases such as vitiligo, which also afflicted many children, or, conversely, covered up age spots. It was such a great product that in 1969 its license was also sold in Hollywood.
Miraculous cosmetics
And it was thanks to “Dermacol” that Olga Knoblochová ended up as a beautician in Barrandov, where, in addition to actors, she also looked after the wives of local and foreign celebrities. Due to the fact that she had to take care of her family, she turned down lucrative offers from abroad, but she never regretted it. She herself admits that she has not had plastic surgery or botox injections and she is not ashamed of her wrinkles. All her life she relied only on the help of miraculous cosmetics and she always did her own makeup, every day. She also combs her famous and elegant chignon herself. In “Weekend Breakfast,” she bragged about meeting her former clients again: “They tell me, it’s good that we got together,” he said with a smile.
