Mexicali.- The first consignment of vaccines against Covid-19 for use in the age group of 5 to 11 years of age, arrived in Baja California, this Friday afternoon, confirmed the Secretary of Health, J. Adrián Medina Amarillas .
“On instructions from the Governor, Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda, these long-awaited vaccines for our little ones will be distributed according to the national plan, with modules in remote communities as well as in strategic places in the urban area, with the purpose that in Baja California let’s continue to be protected at this stage of the pandemic “, emphasized the state official.
The initial shipment consists of 54,000 doses of the Pfizer biological, adapted to the needs of this age range, which will be applied at strategic points in the municipalities. The arrival of more doses is contemplated in the coming days, to achieve coverage of at least 80 percent of this population of more than 340,000 girls and boys, said the Secretary of Health.
He recalled that the registry for vaccination is open on the Internet portal of the Federal Government, https//mivacuna.salud.gob.mxbeing considered as a requirement and endorsement of the parents or guardians to apply the dose in the minor.
“We will announce the vaccination sites this weekend on official networks of the Ministry of Health, as well as in the media; We deeply thank the Colegio de Bachilleres de Baja California for its willingness to implement vaccination modules in its facilities, especially in the state capital, which, due to its high temperatures, requires refrigerated sites to take care of the health of those attending these sessions,” he commented.
Finally, Medina Amarillas invited the population to continue taking care of themselves with the Astrazeneca vaccine available for adults, as well as the Pfizer biological for adolescents from 12 to 17 years of age, and starting Monday with the Pfizer dose for girls and boys from 5 to 11 years.
