Books – Youssef Afifi:

Alaa Selim, head of the Egyptian community in Kuwait and secretary general of the Union of Egyptians in Kuwait, commented on what was published by the Kuwaiti newspaper “Al-Qabas” regarding the decision not to issue work permits to Egyptian workers in Kuwait since last September 17 until further notice.

“Selim” confirmed to Masrawy that the statements made are true, and we will have to wait for things to become clear, specifying that the Kuwaiti embassy in Egypt has not yet declared anything.

He stressed that the vision is still unclear as of now, in addition to the fact that even the Egyptian embassy has not yet addressed the issue, noting that the corridors of Kuwaiti government headquarters are proceeding normally.

An official source in the Ministry of Labor confirmed that the ministry has not received any official papers, documents or letters from any Kuwaiti party, and such matters will not be discussed until after referencing Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The source explained to “Masrawy” that the Ministry of Labor will communicate with the Egyptian Foreign Ministry to find out the truth about this decision or not, saying, “Everything will be revealed soon.”

And the Kuwaiti newspaper, “Al-Qabas,” said last night Wednesday that Kuwait issued a decision to cut off its workforce connection with Egypt, followed by a procedure to block work permits for Egyptians until further notice.

Sources responsible for the Manpower Authority indicated that this step was followed by a new decision by the Public Authority for Manpower to suspend the issuance of work permits for workers from Egypt until further notice.

The sources attributed the reasons for the decision to the need to work on the creation of a new hiring control mechanism from Egypt, the “violation by the Egyptian embassy of Kuwaiti laws regulating the labor market” and to work to implement the laws and regulations that regulate the labor market. definitely the job market.
