Al-Marsad newspaper: Former US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo believed the Saudi-Chinese rapprochement is a direct result of what he described as “bad American policy”, criticizing President Joe Biden’s administration’s dealings with the allies of the United States.
Pompeo, foreign minister in former President Donald Trump’s administration, said in an interview with “Fox News” in response to a question about Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to Saudi Arabia: “When you don’t become a partner with your friends and allies and do nothing to strike back at your opponents like Xi.” Jinping, we see this kind of cover-up behavior,” according to CNN.
He added: “For the first time, we ended 40 years of American policy and realized that the Communist Party of China was the greatest external threat to the United States. And when we did, our friends and partners all over the world have joined us.”
Pompeo felt that the Biden administration when it came to the White House “was soft on China” and said, “When you do these things, you hurt the American people across the country. And what I saw happen in the kingdom (during the visit of Xi Jinping) is a direct result of the Bad American policy”.
He added: “You have to stay with your friends, you have to be with your partners, you have to answer to your opponents, or your friends will start protecting themselves. They will make friends to protect themselves if they can’t count on America to be a good partner and friend» .
