Estonian ferry operator Tallink Grupp, the owner of the Burger King franchise in the Baltics, has opened the first franchise restaurant in Latvia in the Akropole shopping center, representatives of Tallink Grupp informed the portal Skaties.lv.
Although the restaurant will officially serve burgers and other popular dishes from Friday, due to the restrictions of the pandemic, the initial dishes will be available only for fast food or home delivery, the company’s representatives point out.
Katri Kivaska, Tallink Grupp’s retail business development manager, explained that no matter what they had to face this year, the company is thrilled to be able to offer the Burger King menu to Latvian fast food enthusiasts. “We very much hope that as soon as the spread of the virus decreases, you will be able to enjoy delicious food with family and friends in our cozy and comfortable restaurant,” said a representative of the Tallink group.
Zane Kaktiņa, the director of the Akropole shopping center, confirmed that she is satisfied with the opening of the first Burger King restaurant in Latvia in the Acropolis, because with the opening of the restaurant, the shopping center continues to grow in terms of shops, entertainment and leisure opportunities.
The restaurant “Burger King” was opened in the “Acropolis” and is the sixth restaurant in the Baltic States, and this year it has opened its doors to visitors. The new restaurant in Riga will employ about 30 people. By the end of 2020, Tallink Grupp plans to open two more restaurants in the Baltic States – one in Vilnius and the other in Tallinn.
It has already been reported that Tallink Grupp acquired the franchise rights in the Baltic States last autumn for the global fast food chain Burger King.
Tallink Grupp shares are listed on the official list of the Tallinn Stock Exchange. The company’s largest shareholder is the Estonian investment company Infortar, which owns 39% of Tallink Grupp shares.
