Ukraine has received the first batch of L-70 anti-aircraft guns manufactured in Sweden and the necessary ammunition delivered by Lithuania, Lithuanian Defense Minister Arvīds Anušausks announced on Twitter on Saturday.
“The batch of L-70 anti-aircraft guns, which Lithuania is handing over to Ukraine to help protect critical infrastructure, has already arrived in Ukraine,” the minister wrote.
In January, the Minister of Defense announced that Lithuania would transfer two Mi-8 helicopters, L-70 anti-aircraft guns and ammunition to Ukraine, the total value of the aid package reaching 125 million euros. During his visit to Ukraine this week, Anushauskas specified that a total of 36 “L-70” will be delivered to Ukraine, the use of which will be particularly effective in the fight against Iranian drones “Shahed”.
It has also become known that the operation of the “L-70” is expected to be ensured using radars, which will be purchased with the funds donated by the citizens of Lithuania in the “Radarom” campaign. In the campaign, which will continue until February 24, almost seven million euros have already been donated in less than two weeks. The price of one radar is about one million euros.
In December, Anušauskas said that Lithuania has already provided Ukraine with military aid worth 240 million euros. Various armaments have been delivered to Ukraine.
