The First Art Market of Les Vitrines C’Chartres Takes Place in Place des Halles

Since 10 am this morning, sixteen artists have been taking part in the first art market organized by the association Les Vitrines C’Chartres, place des Halles. The objective of “democratizing art” gives pride of place to the diversity of techniques and inspirations.

The opportunity for visitors, passers-by and art lovers to be able to contemplate the works of these artists, but also to be able to discuss with them the techniques used and their inspirations.

Creations are also exhibited in the kiosk, on the same square. The artists are almost exclusively local (most from Eure-et-Loir, a sculptress from Yvelines and a designer from Rouen). The initiative was prompted to the association by Blandine Cousin, whose gallery is located in Chartres, place Billard.

Afternoon entertainment

Two musicians will perform in the square around the stands during the afternoon. Emma Dubois and Chloé Gaucher, forming a duo of professional flutists and clarinettists, will wander around the market to liven up the Place des Halles. Stéphane Massaro’s dance company and his students will offer dance demonstrations.

Marie Shoko, artist from Mittainvilliers, is inspired by his round trips to Martinique and his various trips for these creations. “View from the Sand” depicts Caribbean palm trees. It also exhibits a revisited portrait of Jacob Desvarieux, who died of Covid in July 2021. He was known as one of the emblematic founders of zouk.

The creations of Patrice Demongeot, artist living in Châteaudun, express the vegetation through ballpoint pen drawings, engravings on Tetrapack, on Plexiglas, or paper mounted on canvas. “A lot of recovery”, according to the artist, who came to “participate in local artistic life”.

The artist Mendoza Sagrada, from Champhol, fell in love with the cathedral on arriving in Chartres. Complicated in learning to draw, he declined it in different colors and shades. Through other works, he wishes “to make the beautiful perceived so that people love themselves as they are”.
