THE NEW JOURNAL, DUARTE. – Twenty-five low-income families were favored with their own roof within the work carried out by the Government through the Comprehensive Citizen Security Strategy “My Safe Country” in four neighborhoods of San Francisco de Macorís.
The Minister of the Interior and Police, Jesús Vásquez Martínez, highlighted the impact represented by the delivery of these 25 homes to the same number of families, which comes to benefit these vulnerable sectors such as Pueblo Nuevo, San Martín, Santa Ana and Vista al Valley.
Speaking at the delivery ceremony for the houses built by the Presidential Commission for Neighborhood Development Support and the Padre Rogelio Cruz Foundation, the minister said that a roof is not a luxury but a necessity, that it is not a privilege but a good that the State has always had to guarantee.
He affirmed that this initiative is an important part of the Comprehensive Citizen Security Strategy “My Safe Country”, which seeks not only to prevent crime and crime, but also to provide real solutions to the needs of the intervened neighborhoods and the right to housing. contemplated in the Constitution of the Republic is one of the most fundamental.
“It’s not just about prosecuting crime, but about giving people opportunities for their development, that’s why we’re talking about a comprehensive strategy with this My Safe Country project,” said the official.
He considered the delivery of these homes as a step forward for these families who will no longer have to pay rent or fear that they will be evicted from their habitat.
“This comprehensive strategy coordinated by the Ministry of the Interior and Police with the other government agencies constitutes the most important plan in terms of security in the Dominican Republic because, in addition to providing security, it gives opportunities to the inhabitants of the impacted demarcations,” he said. .
He highlighted the fact that these first 25 houses are delivered, because they represent an improvement in the quality of life of the beneficiary families and a great impact on the longed-for dream of the most needy sectors and that in one way or another contribute to the development and stability of these households.
Vásquez Martínez said that since vulnerable sectors were abandoned to their fate in the past, “the time has come to unite effort and will to achieve results like the one we are seeing today.”
The activity took place at the facilities of the Juan Pablo Duarte Neighborhood Council, in the Los Rieles neighborhood of the Villa Linda sector, with the presence of civil, police and military authorities, as well as the main community leaders of San Francisco de Macorís.
