To put out the fire, reinforcements were called from Crete, Samos and Athens, while 112 rang on the mobile phones of the residents calling them to be ready.

Interruption of services to and from the port of Akadia
Earlier, in an announcement, the Municipality of Rhodes stated that itineraries operated by mini buses to and from the port of Akantia are being interrupted.
The announcement states the following:
«Minibus routes to and from the port of Akadia were temporarily suspended, in order for the vehicles to be available for the immediate transport of additional firefighters to the fire that broke out between Pastidas and Maritsa. There will be a later announcement about the rerouting of the buses».
