The financing of social protection at the center of talks between Nadia Fettah and the DG of the ILO

The financing of social protection was at the center of talks, Tuesday in Rabat, between the Minister of Economy and Finance, Nadia Fettah, and the Director General of the International Labor Organization (ILO), Gilbert Fossoun Houngbo , who is visiting Morocco.

In a statement to MAP, following these talks, Mr. Houngbo praised the efforts made by Morocco in the field of social protection, as well as in the implementation of the social state.

“We know that the Moroccan authorities place enormous emphasis on the social state and that the various programs on social protection are expensive for the budget,” he said, adding that the discussions with Ms. Fettah focused on the measures that the Ministry of the Economy is taking in this regard.

Mr. Houngbo also indicated that this meeting was an opportunity to review the challenges that Morocco faced following the increase in inflation, particularly after the Covid crisis.

This visit is an opportunity for Mr. Houngbo to meet several ministers and officials, as well as to participate in a High-Level Tripartite event on the social state and social dialogue, and in a High-Level round table on social justice. and changes in the labor market.
