In the circumstances of the emergency situation, which has been declared in Latvia until December 6, the “Latvian Volleyball Cup 2020” games for men and women have been postponed to a later time.

They are planned to take place on January 30 and 31, 2021, reports the Latvian Volleyball Federation (LVF).

“Due to restrictions, amateur teams whose players have not entered into a remuneration agreement with the club are not allowed to play at the moment,” explains Liene Brīkše, LVF Classic Volleyball Competition Coordinator.

“This means that National League clubs for men and women could not take part in the competition. We want to give them the opportunity to fight for the Latvian Cup and play against the strongest domestic clubs fighting in the Baltic League. Therefore, we hope that after the end of the emergency situation, all nine clubs for men and seven for women will be able to participate in the competition. ”

Semi-finals for men’s teams are scheduled for January 30, and finals for women and men on January 31. Depending on the situation at the “front” of Covid-19, the previous rounds could be played in the second half of December or in January.
