The final set of exceptional COVID-19 rules is coming to an end.

Many special corona regulations have already ended in the past few months; the last ones will expire on April 7, 2023.

Patients and visitors are required to wear masks until April 7, 2023, when this nationwide regulation will also end. For some time now, speech therapists have no longer been obliged to wear a mask.

Medicines can be prescribed again by hospital doctors for a period of up to seven days after discharge from the hospital. Treatment must be completed within 12 calendar days of discharge and the time limit for starting treatment remains seven days of discharge.

Possibility of telephone sick leave only in special cases

The special regulation for telephone sick leave due to a mild illness of the upper respiratory tract ends on March 31, 2023.

From April 1, 2023, contract doctors may only certify patients’ incapacity for work after a telephone anamnesis if there is an obligation or recommendation to isolate themselves (e.g. in the case of an infectious disease such as COVID-19). The Federal Joint Committee (G-BA) decided on this unlimited regulation on sick leave by telephone.
