The final in Porto is in front of 16,500 spectators

A total of 16,500 spectators will be allowed to visit the Estadio do Dragao for the UEFA Champions League final between Manchester City and Chelsea on Saturday (9 p.m.) in Porto. The European Football Association (UEFA) announced on Tuesday.

According to a decision by the responsible authorities, around a third of the arena with around 50,000 seats should be used. However, only 1,700 tickets should go on sale. Both finalists each received 6,000 tickets for their fans.

Istanbul loses the final for the second time

The final was originally supposed to be held in Istanbul. The reason for the relocation were safety concerns. Great Britain had put Turkey on a red list of countries from which direct entry into the United Kingdom is prohibited because of the high number of new coronavirus infections.

Last year, Istanbul had to give up its role as the final host due to the coronavirus pandemic. At that time, too, they played in Portugal instead. A final tournament was held in Lisbon, which Bayern Munich won.
