A total of 18 films have been announced for the most prestigious film competition in the world, including that of Valeria Bruni Tedeschi French side, with Almond trees, a film on the theater and in particular on the director Patrice Chéreau. We will also find the great South Korean director Park Chan-wook with Haeojil Gyeolsim (il won the Grand Prix du Festival in 2004 with Old Boy) or the Romanian Cristian Mungiu, present with NMR (Palme d’or in 2007 with 4 months, 3 weeks, 2 days).

The Russian filmmaker Kirill Serebrennikov, who left his country and now lives in Berlin, will be in official competition with a historical film around the composer Tchaikovsky: Tchaikovsky’s Wife. The director, for the third time in competition (Leto, Petrov Fever)is also a director and will open the Festival d’Avignon in July with a fantastic short story by Anton Chekhov, The Black Monk.

Z (Like Z)a film on the set of a zombie film directed by Michel Hazanavicius with Bérénice Bejo and Romain Duris, will open the Festival.

In the Cannes Première selection, we note a film around the death of Malik Oussekine: Our Brothers from Rachid Bouchareb.

“The composition of the juries will be announced in the coming days”specified Thierry Frémeaux, indicating that “all this is not over”, some films to complete this official selection next week. The poster will also be unveiled in the coming days.
