The wait was long. 30 years, exactly. And a few months to wonder if the coronavirus epidemic was not going to destroy everything. On June 25, the defeat of Manchester City against Chelsea (2-1) officially crowned Liverpool new king of England.
A seven-minute film about a crazy season
Titled for the first time since 1990, the Reds of Jürgen Klopp will have crushed the Premier League this season, in turn breaking the records, becoming in particular, after 31 days, the earliest champions in history, since it took 33 at Manchester United in 2001 and Manchester City in 2018. If they were worn by individuals at the top of their art, from Virgil Van Dijk to Mohamed Salah via Trent Alexander-Arnold and Sadio Mané, they especially impressed by their collective strength.
Able both to create a constructed game and to crucify his opponent in counter-attack, this Liverpool could only overcome his incredible curse. RMC Sport invites you to dive back into this extraordinary season through a film of more than seven minutes (see above). The opportunity to remember the perfect start to the season accomplished by the Reds, with eight victories in the first eight days, the stop against the sworn enemy United in October (1-1), the series of 18 successes in a row stopped by Watford in February (3-0), the blurred period caused by the coronavirus epidemic and then the rescue.
