The film festival “Pearl of the Baltics” will take place this October / Article / LSM.lv

The film festival “Pearl of the Baltics” will take place this year from October 7 to 12 at the cinema “Splendid Palace”, the organizers of the festival informed.

The festival has been moved from the usual September dates to October due to the Covid-19 pandemic. However, as the organizers of the festival point out: “Cinema will always be shown on the big screen. People go and go to the cinema not just for sound, image or comfortable chairs, but to share this experience with those around them. Watching a movie alone is not comparable to watching it with other cinemas. [..] Our festival is a meeting place for such people in a cinema hall, where special feelings take over. ”

The program of the film festival will include 16 films, in which viewers of all ages with different tastes will be able to find an important author’s message, the organizers promise.

The festival will offer films by outstanding directors, actors and screenwriters, will continue to show the best films from 35 mm film, new films that have premiered or will soon take place in the world’s largest film forums, as well as extravagant and already traditional program “Cinema and Fashion”.

“What unites in these completely different films is the high level of acting – Anthony Hopkins, Gillette Binosh, Mads Mickelsen, Judy Dench, Judah Lov, Marion Cotiary, Vigo Mortensen, Olivia Colmane. This list is far from complete, but impressive, ”the festival organizers note.

The festival will be opened by the world-famous Danish film director Thomas Winterberg’s “intoxicating” comedy “Still by the Measure”.

The film was included in the official program of this year’s Cannes Film Festival and will be screened at both the Toronto and San Sebastian Film Festivals.

By implementing the necessary security measures, the management of the Splendid Palace cinema has halved the number of seats in the Great and Small Halls. In addition, there will be twice as long a session interval in which to properly ventilate the premises.

“In order not to increase the ticket prices and at the same time make the festival visit as pleasant as possible, the festival will sell tickets to the cinema screenings only in family packages – 2, 3 or 4 tickets each,” the organizers point out.
