To mark the tenth anniversary of Whitney Houston’s death, the film <a href="https://www.world-today-news.com/naomi-ackie-is-supposed-to-play-whitney-houston/" title="Naomi Ackie is supposed to play Whitney Houston”>I Wanna Dance With Somebody chronicles the life of the icon. And it will be broadcast very soon on W9!
The movie I Wanna Dance With Somebody is described as “a joyous, emotional and moving celebration of the life, and music, of the greatest r&b/pop singer in history”. He therefore relates “his journey from obscurity to musical superstardom”. And these images will finally be broadcast on French television, on Sunday November 17, 2024, at 9:10 p.m., on W9. To be as close as possible to reality, Whitney Houston’s historic producer, Clive Davis, is one of the producers of the biopic. In addition, the star’s voice resonates throughout the film, on key titles such as “I Will Always Love You”, “Saving All My Love for You”, and “I’m Every Woman”. Additionally, actress Naomi Ackie was chosen to play the role of the great Whitney Houston. And the production absolutely does not regret its choice, since it was already known to the general public, for having played in Lady Macbethbut also Star Wars, Episode IX. Director Kasi Lemmons explains:
“Naomi Ackie impressed us every step of the way. I was moved by his ability to recreate the stage presence of a global icon, while bringing humanity to his personal life”.
She adds:
“Naomi worked tirelessly to become Whitney. […] The result is stunning”.
With nearly $60 million in revenue, for a budget of $45 million, the film only attracted 200,000 spectators. Either way, we can’t wait to see these images on W9 !
