Some firefighters really had to go into intervention, on April 1, during the ceremony bringing them together in their future center. The preliminary deed of transfer of a building from the former Legrand-Normandie industrial wasteland was signed by the mayor of Montville Anne-Sophie Clabaut and André Gauthier, chairman of the board of directors of Sdis 76. The panel of the future center fire and rescue Montville-Malaunay was unveiled in front of the professional and volunteer firefighters concerned and the controller general Jean-Yves Lagalle, director of Sdis 76. This partnership between the town of Montville, Sdis 76 and the departmental council was detailed by the elected officials present.
A first in Seine-Maritime
They recalled that “territorial and social cohesion, mobile and real estate policy, needed to bring together the two existing centers to gain in efficiency. Currently they are obsolete and landlocked in the town center. The Legrand site, closed since 2013, was the opportunity seized by Pascal Martin, mayor of Montville and professional firefighter at the time. An overall project was carried out with the Normandy public land establishment, followed by Myriam Travers in the following mandate. The Sdis will have a covered area of 2,600 m² on a plot of 5,800 m². The work is estimated at two million euros. The President of the Department, Bertrand Bellanger, noted that “a barracks in an existing industrial building is a first in Seine-Maritime”. He also underlined “the symbolism of having a museum in France dedicated to the body of firefighters in Montville”. Another project will materialize on the site with the future transfer of the municipal workshops.
